A little over ten years ago, the Thunderbird Coffeehouse closed its doors but the spirit of art, music, and discussion lives on. To celebrate those times there will be a music and art festival featuring a number of great bands and artists.
The cost will be $8 in advance and will be available soon on the Michigan Theatre’s website. Tickets the day of are $10 or $8 with two canned non perishable items. A free cup of Lovebuzz is included with the purchase.
Bands/musicians are: The Jackpine Snag(doomy blues from Lansing), the Jacktown Hustlers(good old pop funk from Jackson), Josh Barton (Lansing’s librarian poet troubador), Darling Down (Jackson pop punk band), Nick Thurston (Jackson’s starchild), God and the Architects(Jackson’s pop guitar poets), the Orbiters (Jackson big sound space gaze), Streakng In Tongues (Flnt/ Jackson punk mod), Corpse Preparation (Jackson Metal) Ernie Lanni Velasco (pop and Americana), theillalogicalspoon (Jackson freakfolk), forever Stardust(Vaudeville Folk Alternative) and Conspicuous Bystanders (Jackson Rock).
Also featuring poets Regan Sova and Afaf Asma and possibly BearWolf.
A variety of artists will be set up: TJ Mixon(comic and pop art), Dionne Trip (surrealist, innovative), Doug Jones (modern), Justine Nichole Melville (textile artist), Hylan Darris (mind bending post modernism), Seth Kofflin(tag, graffiti), Jacob Myers (modern), Shawn Wernette(post modern) and Trevi Gnodtke.
Screen print Thunderbird shirts will be available.
Games will be set up: chess, backgammon, and dao.
The theatre’s cash bar will be open.
